Forestry and Other Land Uses
Forests and other natural lands are the largest source of land-based carbon storage worldwide today but also one of the leading sources of carbon loss where degradation, deforestation, and poor management practices occur, particularly where climate conditions are changing. Fortunately, technologies and practices can be deployed that restore and protect the productive capacity of forests and other lands, expand their carbon storage, and provide economic diversification and expansion in rural areas. CCS provides critical assessments of forestry and other land use technologies and practices for a wide range of geographies and natural lands. These assessments address and a variety of active use scenarios, as well as providing in depth environmental and economic analysis. CCS also supports, and multi objective program design, and development of implementation mechanisms to support global financing and adoption of sustainable forestry.
